The Brook of Cheboygan offers three tiers of care—Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care—allowing residents to remain on the same campus even as their needs change. Individuals who are largely self-sufficient can choose independent living, while those needing day-to-day help may opt for assisted living. The dedicated memory care area supports residents with Alzheimer’s disease or related conditions and is designed to provide structured routines and secure surroundings.
Clinical support is anchored by RNs and LPNs, with a nurse on call at all times. Staff members manage special diets and assist diabetics who rely on oral medications, and the community is equipped to care for people with advanced dementia. All caregivers undergo background checks, and an awake night shift is in place alongside door alarms, wander guard technology, 24-hour on-site staffing, and a PERS alert system. On-site podiatry visits reduce outside travel for foot care. Residents may receive full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and mobility help ranges from standby supervision with a walker to two-person or Hoyer-lift transfers, including support for those who are bed-bound.
Apartments come in multiple layouts, some featuring private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and individual climate controls. Cable service, routine housekeeping, and scheduled laundry are standard services, but not every unit has all listed features, so prospective residents and families should verify specific room details during a tour.
Dining options cover a set menu with on-order selections, and snacks are available at any time. Meals can be taken in the main dining room, delivered to the resident’s apartment, or served in a private dining room for family gatherings. The culinary team collaborates with clinical staff to handle physician-ordered diet modifications and ongoing nutritional management.
Amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, communal gardens, an exercise room, movie room, library, barber/beauty shop, internet access, special-interest clubs, and on-site religious services. Scheduled transportation is provided for appointments and outings. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
