Green Acres Cedar Springs provides both Assisted Living and Memory Care, allowing residents to remain on the same campus as needs change. The community is equipped to support residents who wander in the morning or evening, are at risk for elopement, display combative or other behavioral issues, stay awake through the night, require wound care, use oxygen, need special diets, or are under the age of 60. Diabetes management is available for residents on oral medications, insulin injections, or sliding-scale regimens. Staff are trained to work with advanced dementia, so residents with significant cognitive decline can continue to receive care without relocating.
A licensed nurse (RN or LPN) is on staff, with a nurse on call 24 hours a day. Night shifts are fully awake, and all employees undergo background checks. Security measures include staff on site around the clock, fenced front and rear areas, alarmed doors, pull cords, and personal emergency response systems that alert caregivers. On-site podiatry is offered, and the community accepts residents with psychiatric diagnoses. Full assistance is available for bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting. Transfer help ranges from standby support to one-person or two-person assists, full transfer with a Hoyer lift, and care for residents who are bed bound. Walkers and wheelchairs are accommodated, and an activity director oversees daily engagement.
Apartments may include a private bathroom, kitchenette, furnishings, individual climate controls, and cable service, although not every unit has every feature. Families can choose the layout that fits the resident’s needs and budget, and the staff handles routine maintenance.
Meals follow a set menu prepared to meet nutritional guidelines, with snacks available between meals. The kitchen can modify textures, portion sizes, and ingredients to comply with medical or cultural dietary requirements, including diabetic, low-sodium, and other physician-ordered plans.
Resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, internet access, communal gardens, and on-site religious services are available. Pets are allowed; it's a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
