Atria Merrimack Place offers Assisted Living, Independent Living and Memory Care, allowing residents to move between levels of support without leaving the community. The Memory Care program is prepared for moderate dementia needs and includes protocols for residents who wander in the morning or evening, are at risk for elopement, or stay up throughout the night. Staff are trained to follow wound-care plans from physicians and to implement physician-ordered special diets, so residents with complex medical or nutritional requirements can remain on site rather than travel to outside providers.

The community keeps a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse on staff and a nurse on call 24 hours a day. An awake night shift, door-alarm system, pull-cord alerts and PERS pendants provide additional monitoring. A visiting podiatrist holds regular clinics in the building. Caregivers help with bathing, dressing and toileting when some physical assistance is needed and provide standby supervision at meals for residents who simply require a prompt. Transfer help ranges from basic walker guidance to wheelchair support, one-person or two-person lifts, and standby assistance, matching the level of mobility for each resident.

Apartments are available in multiple layouts, and residents can bring furniture, paint or otherwise decorate to their taste. Some units include kitchenettes, private bathrooms, independent temperature controls, cable service, housekeeping and scheduled laundry, but these features vary by floor plan.

Dining options include a rotating set menu, made-to-order entrées and all-day snacks. A private dining room is available for family gatherings, and the culinary team accommodates physician-ordered diets, vegetarian choices and other modifications. Independent Living residents can opt into a monthly meal plan while retaining full kitchens or kitchenettes for their own cooking. Medication-management monitoring, housekeeping and laundry services are also available to Independent Living residents on an as-needed basis.

Residents have access to on-site parking, scheduled transportation, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie theater, wellness center, high-speed internet, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, bistro, newspaper delivery, outdoor grill and pub. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
