Berkeley Retirement Home delivers four levels of care—Assisted Living, Independent Living, Residential Care Home, and Memory Care—in one setting. Residents who wander during the day or night, present an elopement risk, require oxygen, need specialized diets, or live with diabetes managed by oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale insulin are accommodated. Mild dementia is supported, and the Memory Care neighborhood is designed to reduce confusion and promote safety for residents who may be up all night.
Around-the-clock clinical oversight includes a registered or licensed practical nurse on site 24 hours, with an additional nurse on call. Background-checked staff members remain awake overnight, doors are alarmed, and Wander Guard systems are available. Residents summon help through pull cords and personal emergency response systems. Podiatry, audiology, and dental professionals visit regularly. Assistance with bathing, dressing, and toileting is offered at a standby-supervision level, and staff provide eating reminders for residents who maintain self-care. Transfer help ranges from a steadying hand for walker users to full Hoyer lift support for bed-bound individuals.
Accommodations include furnished suites with private bathrooms, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate; some rooms may differ in the features provided. Weekly housekeeping and scheduled laundry are standard. Independent Living residents receive a lighter service bundle that still covers medication-management monitoring, housekeeping, and laundry.
Dining follows a set menu with daily snacks and the ability to honor doctor-ordered diet modifications. Residents on the Independent Living plan may opt for a monthly meal package that offers flexibility while ensuring nutritional needs are met.
The community offers resident parking, wheelchair accessibility, designated outdoor smoking areas, an on-site barber and beauty shop, internet access, communal gardens, a library, special-interest clubs, scheduled transportation, and proximity to public transit. On-site religious services are available for those who wish to attend.
