The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center provides Assisted Living, Independent Living and Memory Care in one setting, allowing residents to transition between levels of support without leaving the community. Clinical capabilities cover residents who wander during the day or night, those prone to elopement, individuals who stay up all night and people requiring oxygen or special diets. The team is also prepared to serve residents under 60 and diabetics managed by oral medication, and it accepts and supports advanced dementia conditions. Medical oversight includes an on-site RN or LPN with a licensed nurse on call around the clock, while visiting professionals offer podiatry, audiology, dental and rehabilitation services in the dedicated therapy room. The community also accepts residents with psychiatric diagnoses, minimizing the need for outside appointments.
Daily care extends to full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting. Mobility services range from walker and wheelchair support to standby help, one-person or two-person assists, full transfers with a Hoyer lift and bed-bound care. An awake night staff, 24-hour security team, door alarms and pull-cords that dial 911 provide continuous safety. Background checks on employees and the presence of an Activity Director further strengthen oversight and engagement.
Residences may feature a private bathroom, kitchenette, furnished living space, independent temperature controls, cable service, in-unit laundry and scheduled housekeeping or laundry services; not every apartment includes every item, so it’s best to confirm availability during a tour. Independent Living residents receive weekly housekeeping and a monthly meal plan but retain the flexibility to cook in their own space or dine in the main restaurant.
Meals follow a set menu with alternate choices, and snacks are available throughout the day. Residents can eat in the dining room, order room service or reserve a private dining room for family visits. The kitchen accommodates mechanical-chopped, puréed and vegetarian requests to meet clinical or personal preferences.
Amenities include resident parking, a wheelchair-accessible campus, barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, on-site religious services, stair glide, concierge desk, library, pool and proximity to public transportation. Pets are allowed. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
