Cedar Lake Village offers Independent Living, with clinical oversight designed for residents who may still want an active lifestyle but also value ready access to health services. Licensed nurses are on-site and a nurse is on call around the clock, giving residents under 60 and those managing diabetes—whether on oral medication or insulin injections—prompt attention when needed. Podiatry visits are provided on-site, and staff can assist with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting when these tasks require only self-care level support. The community does not provide specialized dementia care.
Daily safety measures reinforce that clinical framework. Registered background checks are completed on employees, and an Activity Director coordinates programming that runs alongside health services. The campus is enclosed with fenced front and rear areas, door alarms, pull-cord alerts, and personal emergency response systems that connect directly to staff. Residents who use walkers, wheelchairs, or simply need standby help during transfers can receive that assistance as part of the standard service plan.
Accommodations range from studios to larger apartments. Some units include a private bathroom, kitchenette, independent temperature controls, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate; not every apartment has each of these features, so it is best to verify availability during a tour. Housekeeping and laundry are provided for Independent Living residents, reducing day-to-day upkeep. A monthly meal plan is available, and the staff can adjust servings or textures as needed.
Dining is served in a central restaurant-style space, with the monthly plan covering the main meals. Residents may also keep light foods in their kitchenettes for personal preparation. Snacks are available throughout the day, and menus are built to support the nutritional needs of adults managing diabetes, offering consistent carbohydrate options and portion guidance.
Residents have access to on-site parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, an exercise room, movie room, wellness center, library, activity area, ice cream parlor, pool, spa, life-skills stations, private dining room, chapel, and communal gardens. There are stair glides for added mobility, internet throughout the campus, and scheduled transportation for shopping or medical appointments. On-site religious services are held regularly in the chapel. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
