The Gardens of Cedar Rapids offers two levels of licensed care. Residents who choose assisted living receive 24-hour staff availability, on-site licensed nursing, medication administration, routine health assessments, and coordination of outside medical appointments. For residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, the secured memory care program adds a higher staff-to-resident ratio, structured daily routines, and behavior monitoring to reduce anxiety and wandering. Both care levels include individualized service plans that are updated as health needs change, and the community can arrange on-site visits from rehabilitation therapists, hospice providers, and other specialists when ordered by a physician.
Additional care features are aimed at keeping daily life predictable and safe. Staff assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, and continence support according to each resident’s care plan. Housekeeping, laundry, and scheduled transportation are provided, and an emergency call system links every apartment directly to the care team. A full calendar of cognitive, physical, and social programs is offered, and memory care residents participate in additional small-group activities designed to stimulate recall and maintain routine. Families receive regular care conferences and have access to an online portal for updates on health status and upcoming appointments.
Accommodation options include studios and one-bedroom apartments, as well as a limited number of companion suites. Features such as kitchenettes, private bathrooms with roll-in showers, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, basic cable, and Wi-Fi are available, but not all accommodations have all the features. Emergency pull cords or wearable pendants are provided in every living space, and weekly housekeeping and linen services are standard. Residents furnish their own apartments, allowing them to bring familiar belongings and small pieces of furniture.
Meals are served restaurant-style in the main dining room, with three daily entrées and alternate choices at every sitting. Menus are reviewed by a dietitian, and the kitchen can prepare low-sodium, diabetic, and mechanically altered diets when prescribed. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day, and residents may request room service during short-term illness or recovery. Family members are welcome to join meals for a small fee, and themed dinners and holiday gatherings are scheduled throughout the year.
