Capital Station offers independent living with the option for residents who have dementia-related conditions to stay in the same community. The team is able to adapt daily routines and environmental cues to match the needs of residents who experience memory loss while still supporting those who require only minimal oversight. This approach allows couples or friends with different care requirements to remain in the same setting and provides a straightforward path to increased assistance if a resident’s condition changes.
Staff members undergo background checks, and trained personnel are on site around the clock. Exterior doors are alarmed to discourage wandering, an important safeguard for residents with cognitive impairment. The community accepts residents who have co-existing psychiatric diagnoses, coordinating with external providers as necessary. For activities of daily living, staff can step in with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting support, adjusting the level of help as needs evolve.
Apartments are sized for single or double occupancy and may include a private bathroom, individual temperature controls, or the option to paint and decorate the space. Not every unit has every feature, so prospective residents are encouraged to verify specific layouts during a tour.
Meals are served three times a day in a communal dining room with menu choices that accommodate common dietary requirements. Staff remain available to cue or assist residents who need help with utensil use or portion control, and snacks are accessible outside of scheduled mealtimes.
Capital Station provides resident parking, outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common areas, internet access, special-interest clubs, and proximity to public transportation. Pets are allowed. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
