Altenheim Health & Living Community delivers three levels of residential care—Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care—under the same roof. Residents with early cognitive change through to advanced dementia can remain on campus, and the team is prepared to manage behaviors such as daytime or nighttime wandering, elopement risk and disrupted sleep patterns. The clinical staff also monitors oxygen use, cares for adults under 60 who need support, and handles all forms of diabetic management, including sliding-scale insulin.
Registered and licensed nurses are on site around the clock, backed by an awake night shift and a full activity staff. Entry points are secured with door alarms, fenced perimeters and optional WanderGuard bracelets, while pull cords and personal emergency response devices connect residents to help in seconds. Podiatry, dental, audiology and psychiatric services are provided on campus, and a therapy room is available for rehab or strength training. Direct care includes full-assistance with bathing, dressing and toileting, supervision for eating, and transfer help ranging from standby to one-person lifts for walkers or wheelchairs.
Apartments vary in floor plan and finish; some include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, furnished setups, independent climate controls, basic cable connections and the option to paint or decorate. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry are provided, but availability of each feature depends on the selected unit.
Meals follow a set menu with daily specials made to order, and room service or a private dining room can be arranged. Pureed or mechanical-chopped textures, vegetarian plates and other physician-ordered diets are prepared on site. Independent Living residents can add medication-management oversight, housekeeping and laundry service, and a flexible monthly meal plan.
Residents have access to surface parking, wheelchair-friendly buildings, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, library, concierge desk, internet, special-interest clubs, garden homes, walking paths, a fishing pond and landscaped communal gardens in a park-like setting. On-site worship services, a gift shop, scheduled transportation and proximity to public transit add convenience. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
