Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana, offers three distinct levels of care—Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care—under one roof. Residents with complex medical profiles are accepted, including those who wander day or night, present an elopement risk, show combative or other behavioral issues, stay up all night, require wound care, oxygen, or special diets, are under 60 years old, or manage diabetes by oral medications, injections or sliding scale. The community is also prepared to care for people living with advanced dementia.
A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on staff at all times, backed by a 24-hour on-site nursing team. All employees undergo background checks, and an awake night shift monitors residents. Door alarms, WanderGuard technology, pull cords and personal emergency response systems tie directly to staff stations. On-site medical services include podiatry, audiology, dental care, a therapy room and psychiatric support. Full assistance is available for bathing, dressing, eating and toileting, and the staff can handle mobility needs ranging from standby help to two-person or Hoyer-lift transfers for bed-bound residents.
Apartments may offer private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, cable service and in-unit laundry, and residents are encouraged to paint or decorate; however, not every unit includes every feature. Routine housekeeping and scheduled laundry are provided for all Assisted Living and Memory Care residents, while Independent Living residents may choose optional housekeeping, laundry and a monthly meal plan.
Meals are served three times daily with both set menus and made-to-order selections, and snacks are available around the clock. In-room dining and a private dining room accommodate personal preference or family gatherings. Therapeutic diets such as gluten-free, vegetarian, mechanical-chop, purée and thickened liquids can be prepared as ordered by a physician or dietitian.
Campus amenities include resident and underground parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, internet access, a wellness center, exercise room, pool, movie room, library, barber/beauty shop, concierge desk, special-interest clubs, communal gardens, lighted walking trails, a fishing pond, on-site religious services and a secured area for outdoor smoking. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Scheduled transportation is available for local errands, medical appointments and community outings.
