Sunrise of Westmont offers Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care so residents can transition between service levels without moving elsewhere. The community is equipped to manage the full spectrum of cognitive decline, including residents who wander during the day or night, present elopement risks, or live with advanced dementia. Clinical staff monitors oxygen use, accommodates special diets, and supports adults under 60 as well as older residents. Diabetic care is available for those on oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Residents who exhibit combative or other challenging behaviors, stay awake at night, or need psychiatric oversight can remain on campus thanks to the community’s willingness to accept behavioral and mental-health complexities.
A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on-site 24 hours a day, with another nurse on call, so health assessments and interventions do not wait until morning. Background-checked staff remain awake through the night, and the community maintains door alarms, pull cords, PERS pendants, and a continuous security presence. On-site podiatry visits help manage foot health, while coordination with outside providers supports additional specialty needs. Caregivers can provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and they are trained in every transfer technique—from standby help with a walker to two-person or Hoyer lift transfers for non-ambulatory residents—allowing the team to serve people whose mobility changes over time.
Apartments are available in several layouts, some with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate. Because features vary by floor plan, prospective residents should confirm which amenities are included in their selected unit. Meals focus on choice and nutritional safety: residents can order food as needed, receive diet modifications for conditions such as diabetes or swallowing disorders, and help themselves to snacks around the clock. Three chef-prepared meals a day are standard, and the culinary staff works closely with nursing to align menus with medical orders.
Independent Living residents may add medication-management monitoring if they no longer want to track refills or schedules on their own. Weekly housekeeping and laundry services are also available so residents can spend less time on chores and more time using campus amenities. These optional supports let individuals remain in Independent Living longer before considering a move to higher care levels.
Amenities include resident parking, outdoor smoking areas, and full wheelchair accessibility throughout the building. An exercise room, fitness center with locker rooms, yoga studio, wellness center, and therapy gym offering physical, occupational, and speech therapies support ongoing health goals. The community provides a Twin Lakes movie theatre, Oakwood Library, art studio, communal gardens, outdoor terrace café, Prairie Grass Bistro, Sundara Spa and Salon, and internet access in common areas. Religious services are held on site, and transportation is simplified through a Lyft partnership included with rent as well as scheduled community vans. Pets are allowed, and volunteers can help with dog walking; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
