The Timbers of Shorewood provides both Assisted Living and Independent Living, allowing residents to step into the level of support that best matches their needs. For those who require clinical oversight, licensed nurses (RN/LPN) are on site to monitor oxygen use, manage special diets, and supervise residents younger than 60 or diabetics taking oral medications. Moderate dementia conditions are supported, and an Activity Director structures daily programs to keep cognitive abilities as strong as possible.
To address day-to-day care needs, staff members offer full assistance with bathing, dressing, and toileting, while providing some physical help at meals if necessary. Residents who walk with a cane or rely on a wheelchair can be safely transferred with standby support or a one-person assist. Emergency pull cords in apartments and personal emergency response systems route alerts directly to awake, overnight staff. Background-checked employees, routine RN rounds, and on-site podiatry visits further reinforce safety.
Apartments can include a private bathroom, individual climate controls, cable service, and the option for residents to paint or otherwise personalize their space; however, not every unit features every amenity. Layouts are designed for wheelchair access and can be fitted with grab bars and other adaptive equipment when required.
Dining is handled restaurant-style with three chef-prepared meals each day, a daily continental breakfast, and access to healthy snacks. Special menus accommodate vegetarian preferences or low/no-sodium requirements, and a private dining room is available for family gatherings. Independent Living residents receive medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, personal laundry service, and a monthly meal plan that reserves a set number of meals in the main dining room.
Residents have access to on-site parking, an exercise room, movie room, full-service restaurant, wellness center, therapy center, and communal gardens with a walking path. Apartments and common areas are wheelchair accessible, and a barber/beauty shop, community ballroom, storage rooms, internet access, kitchen facilities, and regularly scheduled religious services are on the grounds. Physician office hours, resident transportation, and proximity to public transit simplify medical and personal appointments. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
