Alden Courts of Shorewood delivers specialized Memory Care for residents living with moderate dementia. The community is equipped to monitor and manage diabetes through oral medications, injections, and sliding-scale insulin protocols, allowing individualized oversight of blood-glucose trends. Residents benefit from treatment plans developed to address the cognitive and behavioral changes that accompany dementia, with structured programs aimed at maintaining daily routines and cognitive function.
An RN or LPN and additional nursing staff are on-site around the clock, and all team members complete background checks. Night shifts are awake, and exterior doors are alarmed to help prevent wandering. On-site medical resources include visiting podiatry and audiology services as well as a dedicated therapy room for rehabilitation exercises. The staff provides some physical assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and the community can accommodate mobility supports ranging from walkers and wheelchairs to standby help, one-person or two-person transfers, and mechanical lifts. An activity director coordinates daily engagement to complement each resident’s care plan.
Apartments can be furnished and include independent temperature controls, basic cable, and routine housekeeping, though not every unit contains every feature. Scheduled laundry services handle linens and personal items so residents and families do not have to manage those tasks.
Meals are available through a set menu or made-to-order options, and snacks are provided throughout the day. Residents may dine in the main room, reserve a private dining space for family visits, or choose in-room service when preferred. Dietary modifications such as mechanical-chopped, puréed, or thickened-liquid diets are prepared on site to meet physician orders and individual swallowing or nutritional requirements.
Additional conveniences include resident parking, an on-site barber and beauty shop, wellness center, library, community internet access, concierge services, and scheduled transportation for medical appointments or local errands.
