Bickford of Rockford delivers both Assisted Living and Independent Living, each supported by a broad clinical program. Staff are trained to manage residents who wander in the morning or evening, are at risk for elopement, or present behavioral issues. Oxygen management, special diet supervision, and diabetes care—whether oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale insulin—are all available. The team is also equipped to care for residents younger than 60 and to support advanced dementia conditions.
Clinical services are reinforced by an RN or LPN on staff, a nurse on-site around the clock, and an additional nurse on call 24/7. Background-checked, awake night-shift caregivers monitor door alarms, WanderGuard systems, and pull cords that either alert staff or dial 911. On-site podiatry and a dedicated therapy room help residents stay mobile and comfortable. Full assistance is offered for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfer help ranges from standby support for walkers to one-person or two-person lifts, as well as full Hoyer transfers, ensuring residents with varied mobility levels receive safe, appropriate handling.
Apartment options can include a private bathroom, kitchenette, individual climate control, and cable service, though not every unit offers every feature. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry are provided, and maintenance issues are handled by on-site staff. Independent Living residents can elect medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping and laundry, and a monthly meal plan, allowing them to tailor the level of support they want.
Dining follows a set menu with an on-order option at each meal. Snacks are available throughout the day, and meals can be served in the resident’s apartment or in a private dining room for family gatherings. The kitchen accommodates diet modifications such as gluten-free, vegetarian, mechanical-chop, puréed, or thickened-liquid plans to align with physician orders.
Residents have on-site parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, a library, and clubs organized around special interests. Religious services are offered within the community, and scheduled transportation is available for medical appointments; the campus is also near public transit. Pets are allowed. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
