Sugar Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center focuses exclusively on memory care, tailoring its entire program to residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Within this single level of care, the community can accommodate residents who need diabetes management, access to a speech therapist, or a respite stay of short duration. All interventions are coordinated to support cognitive health while addressing concurrent medical needs.
Care delivery is reinforced by a secured environment and a clinical team that includes nurses, physical and occupational therapists, a podiatrist, and hospice professionals. Staff manage medications, provide incontinence and ambulatory support, and monitor each resident through routines designed specifically to accommodate memory loss. Because the building functions as a memory-care-only community, security measures and staffing patterns are calibrated for residents who may be at risk of wandering.
Accommodations include private and companion suites situated near common spaces and safely enclosed outdoor areas where residents can walk or sit under supervision. Floor plans are intended to reduce confusion with clear sightlines and simplified layouts, but not every room has the same design features, so it is best to verify details during a visit.
Three meals a day are prepared and served in a communal dining room, with menus developed to meet general nutritional guidelines and individualized for medical conditions such as diabetes or swallowing difficulties. Snacks and hydration are available throughout the day, and staff remain on hand to cue or assist residents who need help eating.
Residents have access to an activity center, organized clubs, and scheduled social outings. Indoor and outdoor walking paths, a swimming pool, and intergenerational programs provide regular movement and engagement opportunities. The calendar also includes birthday parties, live music performances, and time in the library and computer lounge, supporting social connection and routine stimulation within the community.
