Cedarhurst of McHenry provides two primary levels of care: Assisted Living and Memory Care. Licensed nurses manage individualized care plans, deliver medication administration, and oversee chronic‐condition monitoring. Caregivers are on duty around the clock to help with bathing, dressing, mobility, and continence support. The Memory Care neighborhood follows evidence-based dementia protocols, including structured daily routines, behavior observation, and redirection techniques designed to reduce agitation and keep residents safer. Emergency response systems and routine wellness assessments give families and physicians regular updates on each resident’s status.
Beyond day-to-day clinical oversight, the community offers on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy through contracted providers, along with coordination for laboratory work, imaging, and specialty physician visits. Scheduled transportation is available for outside medical appointments, and staff track vital signs and weight changes to alert health practitioners when intervention is needed. Fall-prevention programs, cognitive-strengthening activities, and chronic-disease education sessions are integrated into the weekly calendar to support overall health maintenance.
Apartments range from studios to one-bedroom and companion suites. Features may include accessible bathrooms with roll-in showers, kitchenettes, individual climate control, basic cable, Wi-Fi, and emergency call devices, although not all accommodations have all the features just listed. Weekly housekeeping, linen service, and maintenance are provided. The community permits residents to keep small pets; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
Residents take their meals in a central dining room where table service is standard. Three meals a day are prepared by culinary staff following menus reviewed by a dietitian, and snacks and beverages are available between meal times. Modified diets such as diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free, puree, and finger-food options can be arranged, and staff provide cueing or hands-on assistance for those who need extra help. Memory Care meals are served in a separate, smaller setting to reduce distractions, and a private dining room is available for family gatherings when reserved in advance.
