Arden Courts of Glen Ellyn is dedicated exclusively to memory-care, providing a structured environment for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Residents benefit from on-site physician oversight, routine wellness monitoring, and coordinated care plans that include diabetes management and speech therapy. The community also offers respite and short-term stay options, allowing families temporary relief or a chance to evaluate the setting before a longer commitment.
The building is a secured community designed to minimize wandering risks, with controlled access points and continuous supervision by staff trained in dementia care techniques. Emergency response systems are in place throughout the property, and care staff are on duty around the clock to handle medical needs, medication administration, and unscheduled assistance.
Apartments and common areas are arranged to support both safety and comfort. Selected residences include wheelchair-accessible showers, handicap-friendly layouts, and air conditioning; some ground-floor units feature garden views, while others are closer to indoor atriums or central fireplaces. Cable or satellite TV connections, baths with tubs, and in-room climate controls are available in many—but not all—units. Shared spaces such as the TV lounge, library, meeting room, and outdoor patios give residents options for relaxation, and uncovered parking is provided for visitors.
Meals are served restaurant-style with all-day dining flexibility. The culinary team prepares options for varied dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, low- or no-sodium, and no-sugar menus. A café/bistro and bar or pub area provide informal settings for lighter fare, while guest meals, special dining programs, and scheduled BBQs or picnics broaden the choices. Nutritional monitoring supports residents who have diabetes or other clinical requirements.
Daily life is supplemented by structured and spontaneous programs such as fitness classes, yoga and chair yoga, indoor and outdoor walking paths, raised garden beds, art and cooking classes, live music, theater showings, resident bands, and Wii bowling. Residents can join trivia games, book clubs, men’s clubs, quilting groups, gardening clubs, Bible study, and community service projects. Holiday celebrations, birthday parties, intergenerational visits, reminiscence activities, and educational speakers round out the calendar, while the activity center and movie room provide additional gathering spots for social outings and Live Well programs.
