Prairie Green at Dixie Crossing provides both Assisted Living and Memory Care. The community is equipped to handle residents who wander in the morning or evening, are at risk for elopement, stay up all night, or need wound care, oxygen, special diets, or diabetes management—whether by oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Care teams are trained to work with advanced dementia conditions, ensuring residents with complex cognitive needs receive appropriate oversight and intervention.
A licensed nurse is on-site 24 hours a day, with an additional nurse on call, and the building is staffed by RNs or LPNs. All employees undergo background checks, and an awake night shift is standard. Security features include fenced front and rear areas, door alarms, WanderGuard systems, and in-room pull cords that alert staff. Podiatry, audiology, dental services, and a dedicated therapy room are available without leaving the property. Staff can provide full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and they support transfers that range from simple standby supervision to one-person assists for walker and wheelchair users.
Resident apartments may include a private bathroom, independent temperature controls, cable service, and permission to paint or decorate, with housekeeping provided. Not every accommodation offers every feature, so families should confirm availability when touring.
Meals are served from a set menu or can be ordered individually. A private dining room is available for family gatherings, and the kitchen can accommodate diet modifications, including gluten-free, mechanical-chop, vegetarian, and other physician-ordered plans.
Amenities and convenience features include resident parking, outside smoking areas, wheelchair accessibility, an on-site barber/beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, library, pool, special-interest clubs, scheduled transportation, and proximity to public transit. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
