Bickford of Aurora provides two levels of licensed care: Assisted Living and Memory Care. The team is equipped to support residents who wander during the day or night, have a history of elopement, display combative or other behavioral issues, stay up all night, or require oxygen therapy. Diabetes management is available for individuals on oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale regimens, and the community accepts residents under age 60 when clinically appropriate. The care program also accommodates special diets and advanced dementia, enabling residents with complex cognitive needs to remain on campus as their condition progresses.
Clinical oversight is delivered by RNs and LPNs, with a nurse on-site 24 hours a day and an additional nurse on call at all times. Background-checked, awake night staff monitor residents, and the building is protected by door alarms, fenced outdoor areas, WanderGuard technology, pull-cord alerts, and personal emergency response systems. Full-assistance help with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting is available, and the staff can manage transfers ranging from walker support to two-person or Hoyer lift moves. On-site medical services include podiatry, and the community is able to admit residents with psychiatric diagnoses.
Apartments vary in size and layout, and not every unit includes every feature. Options can include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, cable access, and the ability for residents to paint or otherwise personalize their rooms. Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance services are provided to all residents.
Meals are prepared on site, with a daily set menu and an alternative “always available” list for on-order selections. Snacks are stocked throughout the day, and the culinary team can modify textures, balance carbohydrates, restrict sodium, or follow other physician-ordered diet plans.
Amenities available to residents include on-site parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, a movie room, internet access, communal gardens, and regular religious services. Scheduled transportation, proximity to public transit, and an allowance for medical cannabis add practical convenience. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
