The Ivy at Hawaii Kai offers two levels of residential support: Independent Living for residents who want freedom from household upkeep and Assisted Living for those who need scheduled help with activities of daily living. Both options are structured so that residents can move between service levels if needs change, allowing them to remain in place without having to relocate to another community.
Medical oversight features prominently at the community. Staff members are trained in diabetes management, delivering routine blood-glucose monitoring and medication assistance on site. Incontinence care is available, and a licensed team provides ambulatory support for residents who use mobility aids or need help transferring. These services are delivered around the clock, aiming to reduce outside appointments and maintain residents’ day-to-day stability.
Residential apartments vary in layout and amenities. Options may include pet-friendly units, wheelchair-accessible showers, in-room Wi-Fi or high-speed internet, cable or satellite TV, and designated parking. Outdoor sitting areas give residents space to spend time outside. Because floor plans differ, not every unit contains every listed feature; prospective residents can confirm availability during a tour.
Meal service covers three daily meals cooked on site. Portions and menus are tailored to match dietary guidelines, including carbohydrate-controlled dishes for residents who monitor blood sugar. Staff track meal participation and can coordinate with medical oversight to adjust nutrition plans if health needs change.
Community amenities aim to keep residents active and engaged. An activity center hosts clubs and group meetings, and there are opportunities for yoga or chair yoga, karaoke sessions, and planned social outings. Fitness programs use the swimming pool and provide low-impact exercise options. Additional features include a jacuzzi, library and computer lounge, and open outdoor areas where residents can walk or relax.
