Sumter Senior Living offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, and a dedicated Memory Care program in one campus, allowing residents to move between levels of support without leaving the community. The clinical team is equipped to manage residents who wander during the day or night, have a history of elopement, or need monitoring for diabetes controlled with oral medication. The Memory Care neighborhood is secured and laid out specifically for residents living with advanced dementia, using cues and routines to reduce anxiety and support orientation.
Registered and licensed nurses are on staff, background checks are completed on all employees, and an awake night shift maintains 24-hour coverage. Residents have access on site to medication management, incontinence and ambulatory care, non-ambulatory care, hospice services, and therapy services delivered by physical, occupational, and massage therapists. Outside clinicians such as an optometrist, dentist, and podiatrist visit regularly. Bathing, dressing, and eating assistance is available for residents who need some physical help, while toileting remains resident-directed when possible. Transfers can be managed with walkers, wheelchairs, standby supervision, or a one-person assist.
Apartment options range from studios to larger floor plans, some with kitchenettes and others with full kitchen appliances. Features available in select units include Wi-Fi, cable or satellite TV, air conditioning, wheelchair-accessible showers, traditional bathtubs, ground-floor access, and uncovered resident parking. Shared indoor spaces include a central fireplace, library, TV lounge, billiards area, and multiple pianos or organs, while outdoor areas offer a butterfly garden and other common seating areas. The community is pet friendly, and cats are permitted within stated weight limits, though not every accommodation includes every listed feature.
Dining is prepared by a professional chef and served restaurant-style, but residents can choose all-day or anytime dining if preferred. Meals accommodate low- or no-sodium and no-sugar needs, and international menus are rotated routinely. A bar or pub, café–bistro, guest meal service, room service, and communal dining rooms give residents several settings in which to eat.
Additional amenities include resident parking, a barber and beauty shop, a movie room, internet access throughout the building, communal gardens, and a well-stocked library. Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
