Wickshire Tamarac Memory Care DUP delivers dedicated memory-care services for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. A licensed nurse is on duty around the clock, and caregivers trained in dementia techniques handle medication management, blood pressure monitoring, glucose checks, and coordination with physicians and pharmacies. Residents have individualized care plans that are reviewed regularly to track cognitive changes and adjust treatment goals. The community uses secure-access doors and a wander-management system to reduce the risk of elopement while allowing safe freedom of movement.
Beyond direct medical oversight, the staff assists residents with bathing, grooming, dressing, and continence care, providing as much or as little help as each person requires. Physical, occupational, and speech therapists visit on a scheduled basis, and transportation is arranged for outside appointments such as dental work or specialist consultations. Structured cognitive-enhancement activities, music therapy, and gentle fitness sessions are offered daily to maintain motor skills and social engagement. Family members receive routine care updates and are invited to care-plan meetings to ensure continuity and transparency.
Accommodations include a mix of private and companion suites designed for easy navigation, with wide doorways, walk-in showers, emergency call systems, basic cable, and individual climate controls available in many rooms. Housekeeping, linen service, and maintenance are provided, and select floor plans offer additional storage or a small sitting area, while others do not. Furnishings can be supplied by the community or personalized with the resident’s own items, space permitting.
Meals are served in a supervised dining room where staff use visual cues and adaptive utensils to promote independence. Menus are crafted by a dietitian to meet nutritional guidelines and can be modified for low-sodium, diabetic, or mechanically altered diets. Snacks and hydration stations are accessible throughout the day, and family members may arrange to dine with residents. Some suites include a kitchenette for light snacks, though this feature is not present in every unit.
