HarborChase of Tamarac concentrates solely on Memory Care, accepting residents at every stage of cognitive decline, including advanced dementia. The team is prepared to support individuals who wander day or night, attempt elopement, or present combative or other behavioral challenges. Clinical oversight covers complex medical profiles such as wound care, oxygen therapy, specialized diets, and diabetes management—whether the resident uses oral medication, insulin injections, or a sliding scale regimen. Residents younger than 60 years old are also eligible when their primary need is Memory Care.
Care delivery is reinforced by an RN or LPN on every shift, with a nurse physically on site around the clock. Staff undergo background checks, remain awake overnight, and use door alarms, fenced perimeters, and WanderGuard technology to reduce elopement risk. A dedicated activity director designs therapeutic programs throughout the day, while pull‐cord alerts connect residents to staff at any hour. On-site podiatry reduces the need for outside appointments. For daily living, caregivers provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and they perform transfers ranging from stand-by help to two-person lifts for walker or wheelchair users.
Private and semi-private suites are available; some include a private bathroom, independent temperature controls, cable service, and the option for residents to paint or decorate. Because layouts vary, not every room offers all of these features, so families should confirm specifics during a tour.
Meals are served in a communal dining room with both set menus and on-order choices, and staff can accommodate physician-ordered diet modifications, texture adjustments, or calorie restrictions. Between meals, snacks remain available to help residents maintain stable blood sugar and energy levels.
Residents benefit from wheelchair-accessible common areas, a wellness center, internet access, and landscaped communal gardens. Housekeeping, medication management, and visits from a geriatric internist are included, and resident parking is provided. The community is close to public transportation, smoking is permitted outdoors, and the campus layout supports easy navigation for individuals using mobility aids.
