Sanctuary by Strive Mount Dora operates as both a residential care home and a dedicated memory care setting. The community is prepared to support residents who wander at any time of day, are prone to elopement, stay up all night, require special diets, or manage diabetes with oral medications. Care teams are trained to address the progression of advanced dementia conditions, adjusting oversight and interventions as needs change.
The property maintains door alarms and WanderGuard technology, and an awake night‐shift staff monitors safety around the clock. All caregivers are background-checked and can provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfer help is available for residents who use a walker or wheelchair, need standby supervision, or require a one-person lift, allowing most individuals to remain in place as mobility evolves.
Residents choose from accommodations in areas known as Midwest Village and Nicholas Conservatory & Anderson Gardens, as well as suites that open to secure outdoor areas. Rooms vary in layout and amenities, and not all accommodations include every feature, so families are encouraged to confirm specific details during a tour. Outdoor spaces give residents the option to enjoy fresh air within monitored grounds designed for safety.
Dining centers on regular meals plus readily available beverages and snacks. Menus are adjusted for physician-ordered special diets, including diabetic-friendly selections, so residents can maintain health goals without separate meal preparation. Staff provide complete mealtime assistance for those who need help with setup, cueing, or direct feeding.
Daily operations are supervised by hands-on, experienced administrators. All team members are drug-tested, background-screened, trained in CPR, First Aid, personal care, food handling, resident rights, elopement protocols, HIPAA regulations, and emergency procedures. They are certified to supervise and assist with self-administration of medications and have specialized instruction in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, enabling them to manage a wide range of memory-related behaviors with consistency. An awake staff is on duty 24/7, and each Strive home, including this one, has access to nurse practitioner services for timely clinical input.
