Brookdale Fort Walton Beach offers three levels of residential care—Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care—so residents can select the option that best matches their daily needs while remaining on one campus if those needs change. Independent Living residents receive minimal assistance and benefit from a social setting with built-in safety checks. Assisted Living adds help with activities such as bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and mobility, while still encouraging maximum self-reliance. The Memory Care program is structured for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, including advanced stages. Staff is trained to address behaviors such as daytime or nighttime wandering and the risk of elopement, and they monitor residents who are up frequently at night or who manage diabetes with oral medications.
Around-the-clock clinical oversight supports every care level. A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on site 24 hours a day, and an awake night staff conducts routine safety rounds. Emergency pendants connect residents directly to team members, and background-checked personnel are stationed throughout the community, with secured entries and camera-monitored common areas. On-site medical services include memory-focused programming, medication management, hospice coordination, incontinence and ambulatory care, as well as visits from an optometrist, podiatrist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist. For personal care, the team can provide full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and can manage transfers involving walkers, wheelchairs, standby support, or a one-person lift.
Accommodations range from studio to larger apartment layouts. Many residences include a private bathroom, individual climate controls, and the option for residents to paint or decorate their space, although not every unit has every feature. Housekeeping and maintenance are provided, and emergency call systems link directly to staff at any hour.
Meals follow a set menu that covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with licensed dietitians able to coordinate texture-modified or physician-ordered diets such as low-sodium or diabetic plans. Snacks are available between meals, and staff members can provide total assistance with eating when required. A private dining room is available for family celebrations and special occasions.
Residents have access to surface parking, keypad-secured entrances, a wheelchair-accessible design, and scheduled transportation for errands and medical appointments. Amenities include a barber and beauty shop, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, greenhouse space, fireside living room, whirlpool bath, piano, library, landscaped courtyards with walking paths, flat-screen TVs in common areas, and a private postal service. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
