Gulf Coast Memory Care is dedicated exclusively to residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The community offers a single level of care—Memory Care—with protocols in place for residents who wander, attempt elopement, display combative or other challenging behaviors, stay awake throughout the night, require oxygen, follow special diets, or manage diabetes by oral medication, injections, or sliding scale. The team accepts residents under 60 years old and is equipped to support advanced dementia conditions, ensuring continuity of medical attention regardless of how needs progress.
Care is delivered by RNs or LPNs on site, backed by a nurse on call 24/7. Background‐checked staff remain awake during night shifts, and all exit doors are alarmed; a personal emergency response system connects directly to 911. On-site clinical services include hospice coordination, incontinence and ambulatory care, podiatry, optometry, dentistry, occupational and physical therapy, and full medication management. Staff provide total assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Mobility options range from standby support to one- or two-person transfers for residents using walkers or wheelchairs.
Residences offer private bathrooms, individual climate controls, cable access, and regular housekeeping with scheduled laundry, though not every unit includes every feature. Layouts are designed to reduce confusion and accommodate memory loss, and the overall building is secured yet easy to navigate.
Meals follow a set menu prepared to meet clinical guidelines, with snacks available between dining periods. In-room meal service and a reservable private dining room are offered when needed. Dietary management supports special diets, texture modifications, and mechanical-chopped preparations to address swallowing or nutritional concerns.
Daily life is rounded out with resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, library, special-interest clubs, and scheduled transportation through a Townecar service.
