Heritage Oaks of Englewood offers three levels of residency—Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care—so residents can remain in the same community even as their needs change. The Memory Care program accepts residents who wander in the morning or evening, present elopement risk, exhibit behavioral challenges, are up all night, or live with advanced dementia. Medical monitoring and interventions are available for oxygen users, residents under 60, and diabetics on oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Staff members are trained to follow special diets for weight control, renal issues, cardiac requirements, and other physician-ordered restrictions.
Registered and licensed nurses are on site 24 hours a day and backed by an on-call nurse for additional coverage. All employees complete background checks, and the night shift remains awake to respond to emergencies. Residents have access to a therapy room, on-site podiatry, and psychiatric support when needed. Each apartment is equipped with a pull-cord system and can be outfitted with personal emergency response services that alert staff immediately. The community can provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and staff are trained for standby, one-person, or two-person transfers using walkers or wheelchairs. An Activity Director coordinates daily programming designed to match each resident’s cognitive and physical abilities.
Accommodations range from studio to larger apartment styles; some include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, and cable hookups. Weekly housekeeping and regularly scheduled laundry services are part of the standard package, reducing day-to-day chores for residents. Because floor plans vary, not every residence includes every listed feature, so touring the available units is recommended to confirm specific details.
Dining operates on an on-order system, allowing residents to select meals that fit their preferences and prescribed diets. Snacks are available throughout the day, and families can reserve a private dining room for special occasions. The culinary staff collaborates with clinical team members to manage carbohydrate counts, low-sodium menus, texture modifications, and other physician-directed meal plans.
Community amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie theater, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, library, special-interest clubs, a bar and bistro, and a putting green. Transportation for medical appointments, errands, and group outings is provided. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Heritage Oaks operates under Florida’s Extended Congregate Care (ECC) licensure, enabling it to deliver a higher level of personal and health-related services than a standard assisted living residence.
