Masonicare at Ashlar Village offers Independent Living with a clinical safety net that is unusual for this level of care. Residents who wander, may elope, or exhibit combative or other behavioral issues can continue to live here because the community has protocols for both daytime and nighttime management. Advanced dementia is supported, and nurses monitor residents with specialized needs such as wound care, oxygen therapy, special diets, and diabetes—whether controlled by oral medication, injections, or a sliding-scale regimen. Individuals under 60 years old who need this oversight are also accepted.
Round-the-clock licensed nurses back up the independent lifestyle, and every caregiver has passed background checks. A registered nurse or LPN is on site 24 hours a day, and each apartment is equipped with pull-cord and personal emergency response systems that link directly to staff. Full-assist help is available for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and the team can perform stand-by, one-person, two-person, and full Hoyer transfers for residents who use walkers or wheelchairs. In-house podiatry is provided, and the community is able to serve residents with psychiatric diagnoses, further expanding access to needed medical oversight.
Apartments vary in size and layout, and not every unit has every feature. Options include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, basic furnishings, individual heating and cooling controls, cable access, and the ability to paint or decorate the space to personal taste. Independent living residents can add medication-management monitoring, weekly or bi-weekly laundry, and other à-la-carte services if they choose.
Dining follows an on-order format so residents can request meals that fit their schedules. Snacks are available throughout the day, and the culinary staff can accommodate physician-ordered diets ranging from low-sodium plans to complex diabetic and renal menus. Independent Living residents can elect a monthly meal plan that bundles a set number of meals with the flexibility to add more as needed.
Community amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, an exercise room, movie room, wellness center, barber and beauty shop, and high-speed internet availability. Residents can visit landscaped communal gardens, attend on-site religious services, and use scheduled transportation or nearby public transit for shopping and appointments. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
