The Residence at Brookside offers both Assisted Living and Memory Care, including support for advanced dementia. Care teams are prepared for residents who wander, experience elopement risk, stay up throughout the night, require wound care, use oxygen, or need special diets. The community also admits adults under 60 and manages diabetes whether controlled by oral medication, insulin injections, or sliding-scale protocols.
Registered and licensed nurses are on staff, backed by a nurse on call at all times. Background-checked caregivers remain awake overnight, with door alarms, pull cords and PERS devices linked directly to staff. An activity director oversees daily engagement, while 24-hour security is always present. Podiatry is available on site. Assistance can include full help with bathing, eating, dressing and toileting. Transfer capability ranges from standby support to two-person or Hoyer-lift transfers for residents who use walkers or wheelchairs.
Apartments are designed for varying needs. Some feature private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, cable service and the option to paint or decorate; not every unit has every feature, so prospective residents should confirm specifics during a tour. Residents choosing the Independent Living plan may arrange medication-management monitoring, allowing them to live with fewer scheduled care services but still receive oversight of prescription timing, dosage and refills.
Dining operates on an on-order system, giving residents flexibility on meal timing and selection. Snacks are available throughout the day, and the culinary staff adjusts menus for diabetic, low-sodium, texture-modified or other physician-directed diets. Independent Living residents who participate in the medication-management program can have diet adjustments coordinated with their medication schedules.
Community amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, scheduled transportation and proximity to public transit. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
