The Orchard – Sky Active Living is licensed for independent-living and can still respond to a wide range of medical concerns. Residents who wander or are prone to elopement receive monitoring, and staff are trained to intervene with individuals who become combative, exhibit other behavioral issues, stay up all night, or need wound care. Diabetes management is available whether the resident relies on oral medication, injections, or a sliding-scale regimen. Oxygen service, physician-directed special diets, and support for adults under 60 are in place, but the community does not admit residents with dementia diagnoses.
Staff members undergo background checks, an awake night shift is maintained, and both pull-cord and personal emergency response systems route alerts directly to caregivers. The community brings in a nurse, physical and occupational therapists, a podiatrist, and hospice providers as needed, and runs pet-focused therapy programs. Caregivers can provide full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting and can complete transfers ranging from standby help for walker users to two-person or Hoyer-lift moves for bed-bound residents.
Apartments may offer a kitchenette, individual climate controls, cable service, and the freedom to paint or decorate, though not every unit includes every feature. Housekeeping keeps suites in order, while maintenance addresses routine repairs.
Meals follow a set menu prepared to meet physician-ordered restrictions such as low-sodium, diabetic, or other special diets. Independent-living residents who request it can enroll in medication-management monitoring; staff will track refills, coordinate orders with pharmacies, and provide reminders or direct administration according to the resident’s service plan.
Resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, and concierge services are on site, and scheduled transportation and a townecar help residents keep medical or social appointments. The grounds include communal gardens, an exercise room, a library, special-interest clubs, internet access, and on-site religious services. A barber and beauty shop, smoking areas outdoors, and pet-friendly policies round out the offerings. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
