Oakmont of San Antonio Heights offers three primary levels of support—Independent Living for residents who want minimal assistance, Assisted Living for those who need help with daily tasks, and a specialized Memory Care program designed for individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. The community’s Memory Care neighborhood is purpose-built to reduce confusion and provide consistent routines, while the broader campus allows residents at every care level to transition smoothly should their needs change.
Clinical resources are extensive. Licensed nurses are on site up to sixteen hours a day, and a visiting physician network covers primary care, podiatry, dentistry and hospice oversight. The team coordinates medication management, diabetes monitoring, occupational and physical therapy, speech therapy and incontinence care. A mental wellness program, respite stays and hospice services are available, and the secured community design adds an extra layer of safety for residents who may wander.
Accommodations range from studio apartments to larger efficiency units, some on the ground floor and others with outdoor views. Select residences include kitchenettes, walk-in showers or tubs, wheelchair-accessible layouts, cable and Wi-Fi, while all benefit from climate control and phone connections. The campus features landscaped grounds, outdoor walking paths, a garden area and indoor common rooms such as a library and computer lounge. Not every unit includes every amenity, so prospective residents should review floor-plan options during a tour.
Dining is flexible. Chef-prepared meals are served restaurant-style with the option of all-day or anytime dining, and room service can be arranged when preferred. Menus accommodate low-sodium, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, kosher and organic requests, and healthy snacks are available throughout the day. Seasonal barbecues and picnics are scheduled, and residents can choose lighter fare or full entrées at each sitting.
Residents have access to an activity center, clubs, yoga and stretching classes, health and wellness programs, arts and crafts, indoor walking paths and a movie theater room. Educational speakers, lifelong-learning sessions, day trips, wine tastings, trivia games, Wii bowling, intergenerational programs, fitness classes, social outings and a swimming pool round out the calendar, with staff encouraging participation at each individual’s comfort level.
