San Carlos Elms provides both Assisted Living and Memory Care, with clinical oversight built around residents who need consistent monitoring and intervention. Registered and licensed nurses are on-site, with an additional nurse available on call 24 hours a day. The team is trained to manage residents who wander during the day or night, those at risk for elopement, individuals who require oxygen, special diets, or oral diabetic medication, and people living with advanced dementia.
Additional safeguards reinforce that medical focus. Night-shift staff stay awake, activity programming is directed by a certified Activity Director, and all exterior areas are either fenced or door-alarmed and equipped with Wander Guard technology. Pull cords in suites send immediate alerts to staff. Podiatry visits are performed in-house. Full assistance is offered for bathing, dressing, eating and toileting, and the staff can handle every level of transfer—from standby and single-person transfers to two-person transfers and mechanical Hoyer lifts—including bed-bound care.
Residences range from basic studios to larger layouts; some include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls and cable service, and residents may repaint or decorate subject to community guidelines. Not every suite contains every feature, so families should confirm specific room details in advance.
Dining offers a daily set menu plus made-to-order choices, with snacks always available. Diet modifications are routinely prepared to meet diabetic, low-sodium, or other physician-ordered requirements. For independent-living residents, the community layers on medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping and laundry, and an optional monthly meal plan.
Amenities include resident parking, outside smoking areas, fitness and movie rooms, a wellness center, an on-site barber/beauty salon, internet access, communal gardens, religious services and wheelchair-accessible common areas, all within easy reach of public transportation. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
