Oakmont of East Sacramento provides both Assisted Living and Memory Care, allowing residents to remain on one campus even as health needs change. The community accepts individuals who wander during the day or night, those with a history of elopement, and residents who stay up all night. Clinical oversight covers wound care, oxygen management, specialized diets, and care for adults under 60. Diabetic management is offered for residents on oral medications, insulin injections, or a sliding-scale regimen. Staff are trained and equipped to support advanced-stage dementia, ensuring that cognitive decline does not require relocation to another setting.
An RN or LPN is on staff, background checks are standard, and an awake night shift monitors residents around the clock. Additional safety layers include WanderGuard technology, in-room pull cords, and wearable PERS devices that alert staff. On-site podiatry, audiology, and a therapy room reduce the need for outside appointments. The care team can provide full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and can handle mobility ranging from standby support with a walker to two-person or Hoyer lift transfers for bed-bound residents. An activity director coordinates therapeutic programming appropriate to each resident’s abilities.
Accommodation options vary. Some apartments feature a private bathroom, kitchenette, or even a full-sized kitchen, while others are more compact; not every unit includes every feature. Independent temperature controls and cable hookups are available in many rooms, and weekly housekeeping with scheduled laundry is standard. Residents who choose the Independent Living package can opt for housekeeping and laundry on an as-needed basis and may purchase a monthly meal plan instead of daily dining.
Dining is flexible. A daily set menu is available in the main dining room, but residents may order alternate choices on demand. Snacks are stocked throughout the day, and meals can be served in the apartment when illness or preference requires in-room dining. A private dining room can be reserved for family events. The culinary team accommodates special diets, including mechanical-chopped, puréed, or thickened-liquid textures, as well as vegetarian and other physician-directed modifications.
Amenities include wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, library, special-interest clubs, lounge and bar, and a movie theater. Hallway laundry machines are complimentary for residents who prefer to do their own wash. Transportation options cover scheduled medical appointments via shuttle or Town Car, and the property sits close to public transit for added convenience. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
