Palo Alto Commons offers three levels of residency: Assisted Living for residents who need daily support, Memory Care for individuals living with dementia—including those with advanced conditions—and Independent Living for people who want a maintenance-free lifestyle with access to help if needed. The community can accommodate residents who wander in the morning or evening, are prone to elopement, show combative or other behavioral issues, remain awake through the night, or require wound care. Oxygen management, specialized diet protocols, care for adults under 60, and full diabetic support (oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin) are also available.
Clinical staffing includes a registered or licensed nurse on duty around the clock, an awake night shift, and an activity director who oversees daily programming. Residents and families can rely on background-checked caregivers, 24-hour security, door alarms, fenced outdoor areas, in-room pull cords, and personal emergency response systems. The team provides full assistance for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and can handle mobility needs ranging from walker and wheelchair support to one-person, two-person, or full Hoyer-lift transfers. On-site podiatry services complement regular physician oversight.
Accommodations vary by unit. Some apartments include a private bathroom, a kitchenette, independent temperature controls, basic furnishings, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate the space. Others may offer only a selection of these features, so prospective residents should verify specific layouts during a tour.
Dining follows an on-order model that lets residents choose meals as they prefer, with the kitchen able to tailor menus for low-sodium, diabetic, or other medical diets. Independent Living residents receive weekly housekeeping and laundry service, ensuring they can focus on social and recreational activities instead of household chores.
Amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty salon, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, scheduled transportation, and proximity to public transit. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
