Oakmont of Novato offers three levels of residency—Independent Living for residents who prefer a maintenance-free lifestyle, Assisted Living for those who need help with everyday tasks, and a dedicated Memory Care neighborhood designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Transitions between these care types are handled on the same campus, giving residents and families the option to increase or decrease support as health needs change.
Medical oversight is comprehensive. The community is secured for resident safety and includes on-site diabetes management, regular physician visits, and access to a speech therapist. Additional clinical services encompass incontinence and ambulatory care, routine optometry and podiatry visits, hospice coordination, medication management, and therapy from licensed nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists. Apartments and common areas in the Memory Care neighborhood are laid out specifically to support individuals experiencing memory loss, reducing confusion and minimizing fall risks.
Residences range from studio to larger apartment layouts. Depending on the floor plan selected, features may include kitchenettes, wheelchair-accessible showers, private balconies or patios, cable or satellite TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, and individual climate control. Shared spaces provide a central fireplace, a piano or organ for resident use, outdoor decks, landscaped walking paths, and on-site parking. Not every accommodation includes every listed feature, so prospective residents are encouraged to confirm specifics during a tour.
Dining is offered throughout the day, allowing residents to eat on their own schedules. Meals are prepared in a restaurant-style setting with table service, and the culinary team accommodates special requests, including vegetarian selections and physician-ordered diets. Three set meals are provided daily, but lighter fare and snacks are available between scheduled dining periods.
Amenities are designed to support physical fitness, cognitive engagement, and social interaction. Residents can make use of an activity center, library and computer lounge, indoor and outdoor walking paths, a swimming pool, and a Jacuzzi. Scheduled programs include yoga or chair yoga, fitness classes, social outings, clubs, happy hours, live music sessions, karaoke, dances, birthday celebrations, and intergenerational visits. Specialized offerings such as reminiscence groups, sensory-based activities, and raised garden beds further round out the daily calendar, providing structured options for residents at every level of care.
