Elegance at Novato is dedicated solely to memory care, providing structured support for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Licensed nurses are on site around the clock to oversee medication management, monitor chronic conditions, and coordinate directly with physicians, pharmacies, and outside specialists as needed. Staff members receive routine dementia-specific training, allowing them to respond promptly to changes in cognitive or physical health, conduct regular wellness checks, and adjust care plans without delay. A secure environment, including monitored entrances and exits, helps minimize wandering risk while enabling residents to move about freely within designated areas.
In addition to the medical oversight, residents receive assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and mobility. Care teams provide discreet continence management, maintain detailed care records, and offer scheduled escorts to on-site activities or therapy sessions. A full calendar of cognitive enrichment programming—reminiscence activities, music therapy, and sensory stimulation—supports mental engagement, and families receive regular status updates along with access to support groups. Emergency call systems are positioned throughout the community so help is available at any time.
Accommodations include private and companion suites designed with wide doorways, step-in showers with grab bars, individual climate controls, and emergency response pull cords; some floor plans add kitchenettes, built-in storage, or courtyard access, but not all apartments have every feature. Housekeeping, linen service, and routine maintenance are included, and cable television and Wi-Fi are available in most units. Pets are allowed. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
Daily meals are prepared by the in-house culinary team and served in a communal dining room where staff remain available to provide cueing, adaptive utensils, or direct assistance as needed. Menus are reviewed by a registered dietitian to meet nutritional guidelines and can be modified for low-sodium, diabetic, or other physician-ordered diets. Snacks and beverages are accessible at any time, and caregivers monitor intake to ensure adequate hydration and caloric balance. Family members are welcome to join residents for meals with advance notice, allowing them to observe dining support firsthand.
