Deer Park offers an Independent Living program designed for residents who remain largely self-sufficient but want access to on-site medical support when necessary. The community is able to accommodate individuals who use supplemental oxygen, ensuring equipment can be used safely and consistently within the resident’s apartment. Deer Park does not provide specialized dementia care, so prospective residents should be cognitively independent.
Additional clinical resources are in place for day-to-day health oversight. A licensed nurse is on call around the clock, and on-site staff coordinate medication management to help residents stay on schedule with prescriptions. Personnel can also step in with practical assistance for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting when a resident’s personal abilities change, allowing individuals to remain in their apartment longer without transitioning to another level of care.
Apartment layouts vary, and not every residence is outfitted with all available features. Select units include kitchenettes for light meal preparation, balconies or patios, wheelchair-accessible showers, and in-unit climate control. Cable or satellite television, high-speed internet access, and parking are offered, and certain buildings provide shared outdoor areas, deck space, or music rooms featuring a piano or organ. The community welcomes pets, although specific size and breed restrictions may apply.
Dining is handled by a professional chef who plans menus that meet a range of dietary preferences and medical requirements. Meals are served restaurant-style three times a day, with an all-day dining option for residents who prefer flexible scheduling. Standard offerings include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, low-sodium, and no-sugar selections; guest meals are available with advance notice. Residents who like variety can choose from multiple entrées at each sitting, and hydration stations remain open between meals.
Residents have access to campus-wide internet for email, streaming, or telehealth visits. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
