Merrill Gardens at Lafayette offers three levels of residency—Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care—allowing residents to move between service tiers as their needs change. Independent Living residents can maintain an active lifestyle with access to meals and housekeeping, while Assisted Living residents receive added support with daily activities. The Memory Care program is situated in a secured area and is structured for individuals living with cognitive decline, providing an environment designed to reduce confusion and enhance safety.
Clinical resources are centralized on-site. Licensed nurses are present 12–16 hours each day, supported by physical, occupational and speech therapists who visit the community regularly. Medication management, incontinence care, diabetes oversight, ambulatory support and hospice coordination are available. Staff can assist with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting when only some physical help is required, and transfers can be performed with walkers, wheelchairs or standby supervision. Residents have an emergency call system in every apartment, and the Memory Care neighborhood is secured for added protection. Short-term respite stays and a structured mental wellness program round out the medical offerings.
Accommodations come in multiple floor plans; some apartments include a private bathroom, some feature a kitchenette and others offer both. Weekly housekeeping, scheduled laundry and maintenance are included for all residents, though not every unit contains the same features. Independent Living participants also receive housekeeping, laundry service and a monthly meal plan tailored to lighter support needs.
Meals are prepared from a set menu, and snacks are available throughout the day. The culinary team can modify diets to meet physician-ordered requirements such as low-sodium or diabetic plans. Independent Living residents may opt into the monthly meal program while still enjoying the flexibility to cook in their own kitchenettes when available.
Residents have access to on-site parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, concierge services, a library and various special-interest clubs. Scheduled transportation is offered, with shuttle service for medical appointments only. Pets are allowed in designated areas; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
