Westmont of Santa Barbara offers both Assisted Living and Memory Care, allowing residents to remain in one community even as care needs change. Care teams are trained to manage advanced dementia as well as specific medical situations such as wandering or elopement risk, daytime or nighttime exit seeking, combative or other behavioral issues, and residents who stay up through the night. Clinical staff can also address wound care, oxygen management, special diets, diabetics on oral medications, and the unique needs of residents younger than 60.
Around-the-clock clinical oversight is in place with an RN or LPN on site and a nurse on call 24 hours a day. Background-checked caregivers remain awake through the night, and the building is equipped with fenced outdoor areas, door alarms, Wander Guard technology, and in-room pull cords that alert staff immediately. A dedicated activity director oversees therapeutic programming, while on-site podiatry visits and a therapy room reduce the need for outside appointments. Residents who need full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, or toileting receive hands-on help, and mobility support ranges from standby help to one-person transfers for walkers or wheelchairs.
Residences are designed for comfort and practicality. Floor plans may include a private bathroom, kitchenette, individual climate control, and cable, and families are welcome to paint or decorate, though not every unit has every feature. Weekly housekeeping and scheduled laundry are standard; Independent Living residents can opt into lighter housekeeping and laundry service tailored for their level of autonomy.
Dining follows a set menu with the flexibility to meet medical or personal preferences. Three daily meals are served restaurant-style, and snacks are available throughout the day. Residents can request in-room dining or reserve the private dining room for family gatherings. The culinary team accommodates gluten-free diets, vegetarian options, mechanical-chopped or puréed textures, and thickened liquids as ordered by a physician.
Community amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a beauty and barber shop, exercise and wellness rooms, a movie room, communal gardens, a library, and space for special-interest clubs. High-speed internet access, on-site religious services, and scheduled transportation for medical appointments or local outings are also offered. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
