Truewood by Merrill, Clovis offers Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care, giving residents access to a continuum of support that can adjust as needs change. The community is prepared to manage wandering behaviors at any time of day, elopement risk, combative or other challenging behaviors, nighttime wakefulness, wound care, oxygen therapy, specialized diets, residents under 60, and all levels of diabetic management, including sliding-scale insulin. Staff are trained to work with advanced dementia and the residence accepts individuals with co-occurring psychiatric conditions, allowing many residents to remain in place even as care requirements become complex.
An RN or LPN is on staff around the clock, complemented by a 24-hour nurse on site, an activity director, and security personnel. All employees undergo background checks, and an awake night shift monitors residents using door alarms, WanderGuard technology, perimeter fencing, pull-cord alerts, and PERS devices that can notify staff or directly call 911. Full assistance is available for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and transfer help ranges from standby support to two-person lifts for wheelchair users or those requiring walkers. These layers of staffing and safety measures aim to reduce hospitalization risk and keep residents in the least restrictive environment possible.
Accommodations include a mix of studio and one-bedroom layouts; some feature a private bathroom, furnishings, individual climate controls, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate the space. Because floor plans vary, not every room provides every listed feature, so families should verify details during a tour. Maintenance, weekly housekeeping, and laundry are included, freeing residents to focus on daily routines and social activities rather than household chores.
Dining uses an on-order system that lets residents select meals at each sitting. The kitchen team prepares modified textures, low-sugar, low-sodium, heart-healthy, and other clinically indicated diets coordinated with nursing staff. Snacks are available throughout the day, which is especially useful for residents managing blood-sugar levels or those prone to nighttime restlessness. Mealtimes are served in a communal dining room, but tray service can be arranged when illness or recovery makes leaving the apartment difficult.
Residents have access to on-site parking, scheduled transportation, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, internet connectivity, landscaped communal gardens, and regular religious services. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
