Carefield Castro Valley offers two levels of residence-based care: Assisted Living for older adults who benefit from help with activities of daily living and Memory Care designed for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Residents can transition between these programs as needs change, and short-term respite stays are available when family caregivers require temporary relief. Both care types incorporate diabetes monitoring, access to a mental-wellness program, and staff who receive specialized dementia training so that support plans stay aligned with evidence-based best practices.
Additional medical resources are delivered on-site to reduce outside appointments and improve continuity of care. A 12- to 16-hour nursing presence coordinates physician orders and medication management, while visiting physical, occupational, and podiatry professionals address mobility, rehabilitation, and foot health. Hospice services can be arranged in-house to allow residents to age in place with dignity. The building features an emergency call system in every residence, an enclosed courtyard for safe outdoor time, and care protocols that accommodate ambulatory and incontinence needs.
Apartments and suites are offered in several floor plans, many with kitchenettes, balconies or patios, and wheelchair-accessible showers. Cable or satellite TV, phone lines, Wi-Fi, and individual climate controls are available in select units, and residents may bring a cat if desired. A library and computer lounge, piano or organ, and multiple outdoor decks expand personal living space. Covered and uncovered parking are provided on a first-come basis, though not every accommodation includes all these features.
Meals are prepared by a professional chef and served restaurant-style three times daily, with guest meals available for visiting family and friends. Menus accommodate vegetarian, gluten-free, low-sodium, and no-sugar preferences, and seasonal barbecues or picnics are scheduled in the courtyard. Hydration stations and snacks are accessible between meals to support diabetes management and general wellness.
Residents can join clubs and interest groups, attend educational speakers, or participate in community service projects. The activity center hosts game nights, stretching classes, and instructor-led fitness programs, while scheduled day trips and social outings keep residents connected to the wider East Bay area. A swimming pool and happy-hour gatherings add additional options for staying active and social.
