The Retreat at Alameda offers Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care, backed by a medical program that supports residents with wandering behaviors morning or evening, elopement risk, combative or other behavioral issues, and those who stay up all night. Clinical oversight extends to wound care, oxygen use, special diets, residents under 60, and the full range of diabetic management—oral medications, injections, and sliding-scale insulin. The Memory Care neighborhood is structured to accept and manage advanced dementia conditions, coordinating with outside physicians as needed.
Round-the-clock licensed nursing is in place, with an RN or LPN on site at all times and a second nurse on call. Night staff remain awake, and background-checked caregivers handle full-assist bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfer support ranges from standby help to two-person or Hoyer lift for bed-bound residents. Safety measures include a secured perimeter front and back, door alarms, wander guard technology, pull-cord alerts, and 24-hour security staff. On-site clinicians provide podiatry, audiology, dental care, and the community accepts residents with psychiatric diagnoses. An activity director coordinates daily programming that complements each care level.
Apartments are available in several layouts; some include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, furnishings, independent temperature controls, cable service, and the option to repaint or decorate. Weekly housekeeping and scheduled laundry are standard, although individual apartments may not have every feature listed. Independent Living residents receive the same housekeeping and laundry schedule plus medication-management monitoring tailored to their lighter level of care.
Dining includes a daily set menu, an on-order option at each meal, and snacks throughout the day. The culinary staff accommodates physician-ordered diet modifications such as gluten-free, vegetarian, pureed, mechanical-chop, or thickened-liquid preparations. Residents with special diets related to diabetes or other conditions have meals adjusted accordingly. Independent Living tenants can elect a monthly meal plan that matches their chosen number of meals per day.
Amenities include resident parking, designated outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty salon, an exercise room, movie theatre, wellness center, internet access, library, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge assistance, and scheduled transportation for medical or personal outings. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
