The Forum at Desert Harbor provides both Assisted Living and Independent Living, allowing residents to move in with the confidence that escalating health needs can be met on the same campus. Clinical support covers a wide span: supervision for residents who wander during the day or at night, elopement precautions, and interventions for combative or other challenging behaviors. Nurses monitor wound care, oxygen therapy, special diet compliance, and diabetic regimens that include oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale coverage. The team is also trained to work with residents who remain awake overnight and those living with advanced dementia, and they accept adults under 60 when clinically appropriate.
Care delivery is reinforced by an RN or LPN on-site, a nurse on call 24 hours a day, awake night staff, and routine background checks. Residents summon help through in-room pull cords or personal emergency response systems, and an Activity Director coordinates therapeutic engagement. A dedicated therapy room accommodates on-site rehabilitative services. Direct personal care can extend to full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfer capabilities range from standby support for walkers to two-person and full Hoyer-lift transfers, and staff are trained to help bed-bound residents.
Apartments are pet-friendly and may include intergenerational program access, outdoor sitting areas, and all primary utilities; telephone and internet are arranged separately. Not every living space offers every feature, so confirming individual apartment details during a tour is recommended. Independent Living residents can add scheduled housekeeping and laundry so they can focus on activities instead of chores.
Dining is structured yet flexible. Daily meals follow a set menu, but residents can place on-order requests at each sitting, and snacks are available throughout the day. Diet modifications—whether for diabetic control, heart health, or texture changes—are managed by culinary staff in coordination with nursing to ensure medical directives are met.
Community amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, an exercise room, wellness center, internet access points, communal gardens, concierge service, a library, special-interest clubs, and shuttle transportation for medical appointments only. Pets are allowed in designated apartments; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
