Sage House – Laurel I is a residential care home designed to manage complex and changing health needs. The team is prepared for residents who wander or elope, display combative or other behavioral issues, remain awake through the night, or live with advanced dementia. Clinical oversight covers wound care, oxygen therapy, specialized diets, diabetes management with oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin, and support for adults under 60 who need a higher level of daily supervision. Psychiatric conditions are accepted, and the staff coordinates directly with outside practitioners when needed.
Hands-on assistance is available for every basic activity of daily living. Caregivers provide full help with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and they manage all levels of mobility, from walker support to two-person or Hoyer lift transfers for bed-bound residents. A registered nurse or LPN is on staff, a nurse is on call 24-hours, and awake night staff monitor the community. Safety measures include background-checked personnel, door alarms, personal emergency response systems, continuous on-site staffing, fenced outdoor areas, and both awake and asleep night shift coverage.
Private and semi-private rooms come furnished, offer independent temperature controls, and may include a private bathroom. Some accommodations allow painting or decorating, and cable service, housekeeping, and scheduled laundry are provided. Because layouts vary, not all rooms include every feature, so families should confirm specific details during a tour.
Meals are prepared daily and served from either a set menu or made-to-order selections. The kitchen can accommodate physician-ordered diets, gluten-free meals, vegetarian choices, mechanical-chopped or puréed textures, and thickened liquids. Snacks are available throughout the day, and staff can arrange in-room dining when residents prefer or require it, monitoring intake and adjusting meal plans as medical needs evolve.
Residents have access to on-site parking, exterior smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common spaces, internet connectivity, communal gardens, scheduled transportation, and optional religious services held within the community. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
